Muscovite is a member of the mica group of minerals, commonly occurring in colourless, silvery-white and grey crystals. It is often found alongside minerals such as Quartz, Aquamarine and Cleavelandite, as well as within granite and pegmatites.

To me, Muscovite is strongly associated with the mind and its capacity to learn, imagine and create. It represents quick thinking, problem solving and the formation of new ideas and perspectives.

There is an inventive quality to Muscovite that encourages us to look beyond the obvious answer. I associate it with curiosity; the willingness to question what we already know, approach a problem from another angle and remain open to possibilities we may not initially have considered.

For this reason, Muscovite is a wonderful symbol for scholars, academics, writers, mathematicians, scientists, teachers, inventors and anyone engaged in intellectual or creative work. It reminds us to have confidence in our abilities when approaching difficult subjects or challenging projects.

I also associate Muscovite with vision; not necessarily in the sense of predicting the future, but in our uniquely human ability to imagine one. Envisioning what could be, developing an idea and then finding the knowledge and courage required to pursue it.

A symbol of inspiration, knowledge, curiosity, intellectual confidence and the limitless possibilities of the mind.
